The Andaman

Greetings from The Andaman, Langkawi! It has come the the end of our honeymoon! Boo hoo :““( But it has been simply superb! The place is incredibly beautiful and close to nature. The sun, sea, rainforests, impeccable service and of course, Michael’s new found friends, the crabs! Lots of them! (He spent more time catching and examining them than he did anything else!) No wonder he can be so full of c!@# at times. *smile* Everything went well, the weather was kind to us and we got to enjoy lots of sunshine before it poured yesterday night. The food has been memorable too. The first night, we went to Barn Thai, a Thai restaurant in the mangrove swamp. Very romantic indeed. The second night, we decided to save some money, and bought buka puasa juadah for dinner instead. We enjoyed the simple food while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (a movie we missed). And yesterday night was a blast! We had steamboat with lots and lots of fresh seafood! It was really a new sight watching Michael gobble down so much crab, prawns and his favourite- the sea cucumber. *smile* Ok, I’ve done the food bit, let’s hear it from the groom…I mean, the male.

No stress

2 months plus to go… and I’m thinking, why am I not stressed? Well, at least I don’t think I am, yet. Everything seems to be under control but I do know I have tonnes more to do. Meet with photographer, wedding schedule, gifts, thank you cards, refreshments, slideshow, facials, SKII eye treatment, flower arrangements, flower girls’ attire, rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal. (I’m sure there’s more) I guess there’s really no point in being stressed because it really wouldn’t help. (No, breakouts won’t help at all!)

A married friend told me that the best way to avoid stress is to plan and then delegate! That’s where all our trusted bestmen, bridesmaids, friends and family come into play. I love you all! *muaks*

Our Progress so far…

One of the first things we did was book the hotel for the dinner reception. We figured that the guestlist would be considerable, since we both have rather large extended families. My father has five brothers and two sisters. My mother has three brothers and a sister (and more who are not in the country) Jin’s father has also about six brothers or so, and her mother comes from a family of six siblings too.
Just family alone would be a great many tables.

We went through 12 hotels and all fully booked. Our luck came when we managed to get the Legend Hotel. With that settled, we moved on to plan the other aspects.

  1. Hotel - done
  2. Photographer for actual day - hired
  3. Photography (pre-wedding) - already shot, awaiting edit and album.
  4. Bridal car - picked.
  5. Dai kum che - favour asked.
  6. Wedding tea ceremony - applied for
  7. Wedding Miko girls - picked and practiced 3 times so far
  8. Wedding plant - purchased and being nurtured
  9. Groom’s suit - purchased and already used. needs dry cleaning
  10. Bride’s gown - not finalised.
  11. Invitation cards - designed and awaiting printing
  12. Catering for teatime - not done
  13. Website - this the one la…
  14. Makeup for bride on actual day - booked.
  15. Bridal bouquet - not decided
  16. Slideshow/video - someone else wants to do this.
  17. Furniture - just the bed, paid.
  18. Flower girls/bridesmaids for dinner reception - favour asked.
  19. Rest - going to get some after all this is done.

So far it’s going well. It is already July and so few weeks left. We are both excited and scared at the same time. Wish us luck.

:)
